Talbert House to Honor Three at Annual Luncheon
Barbara Gould, the Honorable Bill Seitz, and Dr. Mitchel D. Livingston to be recognized

CINCINNATI—Talbert House will be honoring three individuals who have helped the community and agency's mission at its 2011 Annual Luncheon on Monday, September 26. Those to be honored are Barbara Gould, the Honorable Bill Seitz, and Dr. Mitchel D. Livingston.

The 2011 Ernest Talbert Award
Barbara Gould
Over a half century Barbara Gould has been on various local, state, and national boards, councils, and committees. She has created and joined initiatives and organizations; fostering a better understanding of the world around us and having the amazing opportunity to meet the challenges and issues of our time. Through education, the arts, the legal system, and public policy she has been recognized and honored for her vision of human dignity, civil rights, and social justice.

The Ernest Talbert Award was established in 1992 to honor an individual who has acted as a benefactor or advocate for Talbert House in promoting its community awareness of community corrections, mental health, substance abuse and welfare-to-work issues in the community. Dr. Ernest Talbert (1879-1971) was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati. He was an early leader in advocating the use of community alternatives to incarceration.

The Agnes Seasongood Good Government Award
The Honorable Bill Seitz, Ohio Senator

Bill Seitz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati and from the University of Cincinnati School of Law, where he was Order of the Coif. He is a partner in the Litigation Department of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Mr. Seitz serves in the Ohio Senate, currently as a member of the Judiciary-Civil Justice Committee and as a member of the Energy and Public Utilities Committee. He is on the National Board of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and co-chairs its Civil Justice Task Force. From 2001 - 2007, Mr. Seitz served in the Ohio Representatives.

The Agnes Seasongood Good Government Award was established in 1992 to honor an individual in public service who has worked in the spirit of Seasongood to promote the development of mental health, community corrections, substance abuse and welfare-to-work services for the community. Agnes Seasongood (1890-1982), a prominent Cincinnati citizen, was particularly interested in the treatment and rehabilitation of prisoners, which led to her involvement with Talbert House as a board member.

The Community Service Award
Dr. Mitchel D. Livingston, Vice President for Student Affairs & Chief Diversity Officer, University of Cincinnati
Mitchel Livingston joined UC in 1994. Earning his Ph. D. in Higher Education Admin. at Michigan State University, he received his master and bachelor degrees in Education from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Livingston has received a number of honors and awards, including the New York Governor's Educator of the Year award. His success in higher education is evidenced through forty years administrative experience, fifteen years teaching experience, tenure as full professor, service on six corporate and community boards, and serving as a national consultant implementing a model for developing just campus communities in the areas of multi-culturalism.

The Community Service Award was established in 1992 to honor an individual who has gone beyond the call of duty to provide valuable leadership and outstanding services to our community.
