OUTCOMES HIGHLIGHTS
Talbert House and Centerpoint Health have made a commitment to research and evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the services delivered, thereby ensuring the quality of care is driven by data rather than emotion or history . Talbert House strategic plan includes a three-year commitment to demonstrate fidelity to best practice service and treatment models. Research unequivocally demonstrates that fidelity to best practice models per population will improve client outcomes.
PASSAGES
Talbert House Passages is a residential treatment program for adolescent females ages 12–17 whose primary diagnosis is a substance use disorder. Researchers have suggested self-esteem and self-efficacy may work differently for girls than boys in relation to risk of recidivism. An evaluation is being completed seeking to identify the types of improvements the clients experienced while at Passages as well as the relationship between those improvements and future recidivism. Outcome measures include antisocial attitudes, self-esteem, self-efficacy and family functioning.
Data have now been collected over a 39-month period. Most notably, intermediate outcome improvements have been documented for successful completers in the areas of self-esteem, self-efficacy, antisocial attitudes and family functioning.
OHIO CONSUMER OUTCOMES
In the Ohio Consumer Outcomes report ending June 30, 2007, Centerpoint Health’s SA/MI Case Management rated the highest of any of the Hamilton County agencies for adults in the area of improvement in symptom distress.
For youth services, several programs received the highest score: Talbert House Prevention Plus youth rated the program the highest for reduction in stress; youth and parents rated the agency formerly known as NORCEN (now part of Centerpoint Health) highest for listening to and treating them with value/respect; and Talbert House's The Bridge parents rated the program the highest for improvement in problem severity, reduction in stress and increased optimism.
