Brown County Community Board selects Talbert House

GEORGETOWN—The Brown County Community Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) is pleased to announce it has selected Talbert House as a new provider agency at a special board meeting January 26.

Talbert House is scheduled to begin to take over operations on Friday Feb. 24 at 5:01 p.m at the ADAMHS facility at 75 Banting Drive in Georgetown. Clients should see no difference in the type and scope of services offered through Talbert House’s Brown County Recovery Services program.

“Talbert House is a proven provider of mental health and substance abuse services throughout Southwest Ohio with a strong emphasis on quality and outcomes,” said ADAMHS Executive Director Steve Dunkin. “Talbert House has an extensive history of providing a full continuum of services for children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings to meet the prevention and treatment needs of the community.”

Bonita Haas, the ADAMHS Board president, reviewed the recommendations of the selection committee. After discussion was complete, the Board unanimously awarded the provider contract to Talbert House. Due to recent financial difficulties at Brown County Counseling (the current vendor), the Board decided to discontinue contracting with that agency.

“We appreciate the confidence the Board has placed in us and are excited about this partnership,” said Talbert House President Neil Tilow. “Most employees of Brown County Counseling will remain in their positions and become Talbert House employees. Together, we will work very hard to ensure the residents continue to receive the quality behavioral health care they deserve.”

Talbert House also will begin developing other service locations throughout the county. Talbert House is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an accreditation to which Brown County Recovery Services will conform. This accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF.
