Talbert House Fatherhood Project to celebrate 15 graduates
from third Nurturing Fathers Class of 2008

Talbert House Fatherhood Project will be celebrating the graduation of fifteen fathers who successfully completed the ten-week Nurturing Fathers Course. On Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Unity New Thought Center, 1401 E. McMillan Ave. (Walnut Hills), children, families, friends and supporters will gather to honor this group of special men who committed to a process of development and learning to become the best fathers they can be.

As they receive their certificates in front of the gathering, each father will provide testimony of their life changing experience with the Nurturing Fathers Course – the fellowship, the discovery, the healing and the learning. Passion and commitment will be on display as the men reveal what their children and fatherhood means to them. There will be fathers from the class who represent the oft-untold story of courage and triumph by men over incredible odds to stay connected to and involved in the lives of their children.

Custody and visitation, child support, relations with the birth mother, employment, substance abuse, housing, and the relationships with their own fathers are some of the issues that combine to keep these men from being the fathers they want to be, and that their children need them to be. The Nurturing Fathers Course empowered the men to realize their potential as fathers, break negative cycles, and apply new knowledge and techniques to their fathering experience.

Talbert House is a community-wide nonprofit network of social services with 30 proven programs focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment and reintegration. Each year, Talbert House helps 25,000 men, women and children across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky overcome adversity to become healthy and productive citizens through its programs in community corrections, mental health, substance abuse and welfare-to-work.
