CINCINNATI—UC students, faculty and staff joined forces with Talbert House to raise nearly $68,000 at the 12th Annual Team Up Cincinnati Golf Outing and Kickoff events in June. The event raised funds for Talbert House school-based prevention services.

The event expanded this year to include a behind-the-scenes tour of Richard E. Lindner Center at the University of Cincinnati Varsity Village and a meet and greet with Brian Kelly, Bearcats football coach. The golf outing was held at Maketewah Country Club in Bond Hill.

Kelly served as honorary event chair. Several students, including those from the football team and women’s golf team volunteered at the event.

Team Up Cincinnati, a partnership between Talbert House and the University of Cincinnati Athletics Department, was formed in 1996 to address issues surrounding adolescent substance abuse. The partnership focuses on prevention and education with a goal of empowering student-athletes to create a culture in which substance abuse is not tolerated, to be positive role models for children, and to encourage responsible living and community service.

“We are pleased with the evolution of this partnership under the Coach Kelly’s leadership,” said event chair Rick Anderson. “His values of teamwork, character building and hard work apply to the student athletes as much as the adolescents Talbert House serves. UC athletes can be terrific role models for all adolescents who are struggling to make smart, responsible choices.”
