Jail House Rocks to support the jail-based treatment program
at new Kenton County Detention Center
Talbert House is one of the beneficiaries of the fundraiser

COVINGTON—Talbert House is pleased to be one of the recipients of a fundraiser being held in conjunction with the opening of the new Kenton County Detention Center in Covington. Judge-Executive Ralph Drees has announced Brighton Center, Talbert House and Transitions will be the event’s beneficiaries.

The single story, state-of-the-art, 160,000-square-foot detention center has been in the planning and building process for over six years. The construction of the facility is in its final stages. The new detention center has been designed with space to provide education and treatment to begin the recovery process and address the criminal behaviors that have led to incarceration. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce recidivism and stop the revolving door at the jail.

The celebration of the completion of the project is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for quality chemical dependency treatment targeted at women offenders. The event will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010.

“By raising the community’s awareness to this problem and then raising targeted money to provide start-up funding, I believe we can use this upcoming event as an opportunity to make a real long-term difference.” said Judge-Executive Drees.
