Parenting Coalition offering free trainings
for parents of children with special needs
CINCINNATI--The Parenting Coalition of Hamilton County is offering free trainings for parents of children who have special needs or concerns. Starting in January 2009, the sessions will provide strategies and tips on parenting a child with a diagnosis of disability and will be led by behavioral health specialists and parent trainers.
Topics include handling a diagnosis of disability, parenting for independence, achieving positive behaviors and planning for a child’s adult life.
The six sessions run every other Wednesday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. starting January 14 at Houston Educational Service Center at 3310 Compton Road. This year’s trainings are hosted by the Northwest Local School District. Dinner is provided.

- March 10: Keeping Balance in Your Life: Respite, Summer Fun, & Recreation (RSVP by March 3)
- March 25: Turning Dreams into Reality: Planning for adult life (RSVP by March 18)

The Parenting Coalition works together to provide parents of children with special needs the resources, support and skills they need to raise their children with confidence. The Coalition members include Arc/Hamilton County, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, CITE Services, Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio, Talbert House and local Parent Mentors. These trainings are underwritten by a grant from The Charles H. Dater Foundation.
