Mary Spottswood elected president
of Ohio Community Corrections Association

TURTLECREEK TWP— Mary Spottswood, Talbert House's director of Regional Corrections, has been elected president of the Ohio Community Corrections Association (OCCA).

This is Spottswood's second time serving a two-year term as president of OCCA, a professional organization dedicated to enhancing community corrections throughout the state. Talbert House has been an OCCA member since its inception in 1973.

Spottswood oversees Talbert House regional corrections programs, which provide assessment, treatment and reintegration services to more than 600 clients from around Southwest Ohio, including Butler, Clermont and Warren counties, each year.

In 1990, Spottswood joined Talbert House, a social service agency headquartered in Cincinnati. She has nearly 30 years of experience in the fields of chemical dependency, mental health and community corrections and is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.

Spottswood was named the 1999 Talbert House Employee of the Year and received the 2005 Professional Achievement Award from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. She is a graduate of EXCEL (Executive Curriculum for Emerging Leaders), a nonprofit leadership training program and received a bachelor's in Psychology from Bowling Green State University and a master's in Public Administration from Xavier University.

The Ohio Community Corrections Association (OCCA) is a professional organization that advocates for and assists community corrections providers to function more effectively.
OCCA, formerly known as the Ohio Halfway House Association (OHHA), was incorporated in 1973 to represent community corrections facilities throughout the state of Ohio, the needs of the courts, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, the offenders, and their communities. OCCA membership includes twenty-five member agencies that operate halfway houses and three Community Based Correctional Facilities (CBCF).
