Dauwood: A Talbert House success story

When Dauwood arrived at Talbert House Community Correctional Center, he was not interested in changing his life.
“When I came here, I was more concerned with being on the street,” Dauwood said. “I didn’t care about anything.”
His attitude changed when he began drug treatment and GED classes five days a week.
In September 2010, Dauwood was notified that he passed his GED test, and he joined the 680 other clients who have received their GEDs during their stay at CCC since 1995. He is now making plans with his case manager for a new life after he is released.
“I’m not going into the same environment as before,” Dauwood said. “I have a different outlook on life.”
