Cincinnati Zoo Donates Solar Panels to Talbert House Housing Developments

CINCINNATI – Talbert House is proud to announce the installation of solar panels at two of its permanent supportive housing developments, generously donated by the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. This contribution, part of the Zoo’s Community Solar Resiliency Program (CSRP), strengthens the energy, climate, and financial resiliency of community organizations in Avondale and the Greater Cincinnati area.
The panels have been installed at the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences—49 units of housing for veterans—and Carthage Flats—45 units serving families and individuals. Talbert House is grateful to Garber Electrical Contractors and Model Group for their partnership in coordinating and directing the installation of the solar arrays, making this project possible.
Klekamp Family Veteran Residences now feature 79 panels (45 kW), with a projected 25-year lifetime savings of more than $214,000. Carthage Flats includes 94 panels (54 kW), projected to save over $238,000 during the same period. Together, these systems will generate clean, renewable energy for decades, reducing operating costs and supporting residents.
“The Cincinnati Zoo has led the way in sustainability for years. We are proud to partner with them and be a part of a project that brings clean energy to our community,” said Jessica Powell, Talbert House Vice President of Housing. “These solar panels aren’t just about saving money; they are creating a healthier community for all of us.”
