Talbert House Receives HealthPath’s Community Connections Grant

Posted on: April 19, 2021

Grant Will Fund Food Truck Connecting Community to Free, Nutritious Meals and Health Services

CINCINNATI – Talbert House is among 23 organizations each awarded $8,000 through HealthPath Foundation of Ohio’s 2021 Community Connections initiative dedicated to improving community health across the state. The grant will benefit Talbert House’s social enterprise House Café & Catering which provides access to healthy food and connections to services including mental health, substance use treatment, housing and primary care.

The HealthPath Community Connections Grant supports the operation of House Café & Catering’s, “Lunch on the House” program which delivers warm, fresh meals at no cost via food truck to neighborhoods experiencing food insecurity. Since its launch in fall of 2020 the House Café & Catering food truck has already served over 1,400 bowls of soup to community members in need.

“We began tackling food insecurity one meal at a time,” said Amy Orr, Vice President of Talbert House Community Corrections service line. “This grant allows us to continue connecting our community to food and other crucial services necessary for healthy neighborhoods.”

Talbert House thanks HealthPath for this generous award and the opportunity to participate in the Community Connections initiative alongside organizations with strong community engagement strategies.
